I dont actually think this is true!

There are definatly people who simply refuse to do any PvP of any sorts... they have it stuck in their mind that they "dont like PvP".. on the rare occasion you get these people into PvP they LOVE it! but simply refuse to belive they like it.

I know players who are competative CS players, they go on about how they love competing against real people, and yet refuse to have anything to do with PvP in guildwars...

its very odd and I think people just pick a side, and stick with it! (like people do with a Football or baseball teams)

Factions attempts to break this mental barrier down.. 'Special PvE' missions are actually PvP missions in disguise!! - This is what PvE'ers are complaining about!..

Then there are PvP Sides to factions which are likeable to PvE, such as the alliance thing where you REALLY need to do PvE in order to succeed (because you have to do PvE to get to these places) and so you have the PvP'ers complaining...

ArenaNet are very much trying to bring these two groups of people together, but people are very stubborn and dont like to be josled into doing things they beleive (in their minds) that really dont want to do.

Those who are open minded and willing to experience Guildwars AS A WHOLE are probably the more enlightened and get the most out of their money.

It's simple; PvP'ers don't know how much better PvE is.

I mostly PvE because it's really relaxing, and anything with a rpg type aspect to the game, I tend to do the same. If I PvP, it's on other games like BF2, Counter Strike, etc.

True, don't knock it until you've tried it.

I've played minimal PvP. It was exciting for the few matches I played but it just couldn't hold my interest. Meh. I just enjoy PvE more.

I find PvE is just as bad, if not worse than PvP for elitism and limiting your options, the only difference is that in PvE you can use henchmen. Try getting a group in Tombs if you're not barrage/pet, or even worse, you're a ranger and you join one of those groups, then they find out you don't have a pet and are doing something else and freak out and ragequit. I was never once able to get a group to farm sorrow's furnace with, no rangers allowed. In PvE you can't exactly take 2 minutes to reroll into what a group wants, which completely shuts you out if you choose the wrong profession from the start.

What's sad about this is that most of PvE is easy enough where builds really don't matter that much, so all this strict enforcement of certain builds is silly because it doesn't matter, where as in PvP at least they have solid reasons for being dicks.

I think they're both bad for elitism too.

I like PvE people, and don't intend any offense but I don't understand playing PvE at all. I understand liking PvE in general but not this game. The dungeons are unimaginative, the entire content of the game is small and the world is instanced.

I don't want to reference EQ, but EQ at level 5(1/10th max at releast) had better and more difficult dungeons with a better atmosphere. They didn't have the graphics but the rest was better.

I never once farmed in EQ, and yet that was one of the biggest complaints but that seems to be 90+% of the PvE game in GW. How do you get that UW armor? do the same exact thing over and over and maybe invent ways to make that action as easily repeatable as possible so that it only takes weeks to get the stuff you want.

I do very little PvE and I enjoy it a bit when I do, but I can't imagine that being my favorite part of the game.

I've never liked PvP. I just don't get off on it. I like the storylines and completing quests with my friends. To me, PvP makes the game become simply about maxed out builds, squeezing out the highest DPS possible, and all about winning. None of which matters to me at all so I only play PvE.

Well said - I quoted this cause it made me laugh a bit. Its funny when a PvP emotes to try and get into a PvE team. I guess its habbit from the PvP arenas but it makes me laugh.

Don't forget those of us who have tried it (PvE playing PvP) and found out they didn't like it. I wasn't big on PvP before I started, but was willing to give it a try (for the reason you stated below*); after playing in it, found I liked it even less and less... Now I can't stand the competitive side of GW.

I agree with this. Each person should at least try each out, you never know if you'll like or dis-like something till you try it.

i've seen multiple people say something so let me explain you in TP language:

begin
IF 'you' = good at pvp THEN you <> (can't) suck at pve;
end.

find ONE thing a pve player can do better than an avg. pvp player (not talking about RA wammos with FDS/Chaos axe).

I play both PvE and PvP and actually enjoyed both part of the game. I started playing the game exclusively PvE, after finishing most of the story line missions and quests, I started trying some ramdom arenas, then found some friends to form a PvP guild and gradually earned my rank and climbed the ladder in GvG. We play GvG when enough people on, and I still play some PvE when not PvPing. But I must admit the most fun part of the game is GvG.

PvE'ers grind to make as much money as they can.
PvP'ers grind to rank 9.

I'm a PvE Only kind of guy currently. Doesn't mean I don't like PvP, cause I do like it. Trick is, my connection doesn't handle it very well, and I always end up being more of a liability to my PvP teams. I don't like that, so I'm abstaining until I get a better connection.

Thus, I play PvE because it's less reliant on connection speed for me. And, if any of you have ever had a minute long lag spike, then you may know what I'm talking about.

I can understand wanting to PvE and RPG but why this game?

I play both a bit, because I want to get PvE char for PvP, but this game is the least challenging, lowest roleplaying value game of any RPG I've ever tried.

I can't fathom having trouble completing all the missions, and the kicker is that it's the exact same for the next character. The quests are about 90 percent recycled and if you don't have the skill to win without dying you can just respawn and kill one character each res until you kill them all eventually.

It seems to me that the only reason to play PvE in this game is that you like the way your character is going to look and yet the customization in this game is pretty low compared to many others.

There's no creepy places that make your skin crawl or underwater tunnels or secret passages. The places are so lacking in depth that it's more of a frustration than anything else. Dragon's Lair with it's 6 inch (15 cm) ice burms that you can't cross is a perfect example.

There's nothing in PvE that makes it even on par with so many other games out there.

I have to assume that it's the monthly fee mixed in. (AKA free play) Nothing else makes sense to me.

But that's ok, I'm not trying to be critical. I'm glad you're all playing just for the company.
